Living in Bible Hill
The Village of Bible Hill is located across the Salmon River from the Town of Truro in Colchester County, Nova Scotia. The Village was incorporated in 1953 and today, with a population of over 5,000, Bible Hill is a vibrant, primarily residential community.
The Village is governed by a five person Commission. It operates under the Municipal Government Act of the Province of Nova Scotia. The Village presently employs seven full time employees, seven school crossing guards and a number of seasonal staff. The annual budget for the Village has recently varied from $1.6 million to $4.2 million depending on the amount of capital projects undertaken in any given year.
The Village has nine recreational parks with two major areas for organized sports. All are maintained by the Village through Bible Hill Parks and Recreation. The main park is located on College Road and has three ball fields, a soccer field, and playground equipment. This site is where the Village holds it annual Canada Day events. The Village also builds and maintains walking trails within its boundaries.
The Village of Bible Hill has a volunteer fire brigade with approximately 35 members. It is housed in a newly expanded facility with five bays and up-to-date equipment. The Bible Hill Fire Brigade does a great deal within the Village running many safety programs for our children both in our schools and at the Fire Hall.
