Notice of Nomination Period for Village of Bible Hill
Office of Village Commissioner - one seat

Nominations may be submitted to the Clerk and Treasurer at the Village Office, 67 Pictou Road, during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM) between Aug 17 and Aug 21, 2026 (nomination period), for one candidate to be elected Village Commissioner with the remainder of a three-year term ending June 2029.

Nominations shall be made on the prescribed paper form, supported by the endorsement of five electors, accompanied by a deposit of $200, signed by the candidate, and filed in person by the candidate or their agent with the Clerk and Treasurer during nomination period.

Qualifications of a Village Commissioner and other nomination and election information can be found online at www.biblehill.ca/elections, or by contacting the Clerk and Treasurer. Accessibility accommodation requests are welcome and may be directed to the Clerk and Treasurer.

We're hiring a Spare Crossing Guard! 🦺🚦🚗

Do you have some spare time? Do you like to work with children while enjoying the fresh air and being physically active? You can do all those things while making a difference in your community!

Village of Bible Hill is looking for a reliable person to work as a Spare Crossing Guard. Our Guards play an important role in keeping children safe on their way to and from school. The ideal candidate is a responsible, safety-driven, community minded person who will maintain positive public relations for the Village in delivering the school crossing guard program.

The rate of pay is $19.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation. Spares are scheduled on an on call-basis, with hours of 7:45- 9:00 AM and 2:15 - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday during the school year.

The selection process will include an interview and background inquiry with Child Abuse Registry, Criminal Record, and Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Statement on the passing of Commissioner Dwight Giddens

The Commission and staff of the Village of Bible Hill are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Commissioner Dwight Giddens.

Commissioner Giddens served the community with dedication, integrity, and a sincere commitment to the well-being of the village and its residents. Dwight’s contributions to governance and community life will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Our flags have been lowered to half-mast in Dwight's honour.

On behalf of the Village Commission and staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Carolyn, and to family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts are with all who are mourning this loss.

72nd Annual Meeting of Electors - Reports

Village Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 9, for the 72nd Annual Meeting of Electors.

Municipal Auditor, Christina Hardy - Doane Grant Thornton, presented audited financial statements for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026. They can be viewed by clicking here.

Commissioners and Bible Hill Fire & Emergency Fire Chief, Justine Kelly, presented reports on the activities of the preceding year. They can be viewed by clicking here.

 

Familiar Faces Return as Village Commissioners

Familiar Faces Return as Village Commissioners:

Commissioner Tim Shea and Commissioner Dwight Giddens have been re-elected as Bible Hill Village Commissioners.

The results were as confirmed as follows:
- Shea - 131 votes
- Giddens - 113 votes
- Chaplin - 87 votes
- One ballot was spoiled.

The Village Commission will meet next on June 16, when they’ll elect a Chair and Deputy Chair for the coming year and make committee appointments
